The Center for Teaching Quality (CTQ) is a national nonprofit based in Carrboro, N.C., dedicated to connecting, readying and mobilizing teachers to transform their profession. The Collaboratory, CTQ's virtual community, serves as an incubator for teachers' solutions to education's most pressing issues. All who value teachers as leaders are welcome to join. CTQ is working toward its vision of a high-quality education system for all students, driven by the innovative ideas and expert practices of teachers.
How CTQ Supports the Implementation of LDC CoreTools
CTQ's Common Core Lab, part of the (free to join!) Collaboratory, supports a network of practitioners designing CCSS-aligned instructional tools, including LDC modules. The online community encourages teachers with varying levels of LDC expertise to connect with LDC veterans who have extensive experience designing, implementing, and reflecting on high-quality modules. CTQ also supports the training of module jurors who provide feedback to module submitted through LDC’s CoreTools platform.
Read why LDC veteran educators Nancy Gardner and Rod Powell say "The Common Core is a Change for the Better" in Phi Delta Kappan. Keep up with what CTQ teacher leaders are saying about Common Core policy and implementation on the CTQ blog.
Experience With LDC
CTQ began collaborating with LDC in 2011 to develop instructional toolkits aligned to Common Core using the LDC framework. Working with a team of National Board Certified teachers from districts in Kentucky and North Carolina, CTQ developed an early library of modules that included reflections from the NBCTs who designed and implemented the tasks. In addition to building extensive community of practitioners with LDC experience, CTQ supports a number of jurors who evaluate and offer feedback on LDC modules.
